The Library of Congress titles this color photograph “Fulton Fish Market, Brooklyn Bridge” and dates it October 1954. It comes from a test roll that Toni Frissell made with a 125 mm telescopic lens. The frame shows two men seated on a pier with the East River and a steel-towered suspension bridge behind them, and the underside of another bridge deck across the top of the frame. The Library’s title names the Brooklyn Bridge; this page does not identify which bridge is which from the image.

Despite the title, no market activity is visible in the frame. This page treats the photograph only as an illustration of the location. It is not evidence about how the market operated or who controlled it, and the men are not identified. Near-identical frames from the same roll exist in the Library’s collection; one other is filed here.
