The Library of Congress catalog title is “United States Post Office & Court House, 300 East Steward Avenue, Las Vegas, Clark County, NV,” HABS NV-39 (National Register of Historic Places reference 83001108). The catalog’s spelling of the street is “Steward”; the National Register file prints “Stewart Avenue.” The set has 54 photographs and 10 photo-caption pages, including views of the courtroom on the second floor (caption pages NV-39-40 and NV-39-41, “Interior second floor view, courtroom”). The catalog dates the documentation only as compiled after 1933, so the date field here is “unknown.”
The catalog lists the Senate Special Committee to Investigate Organized Crime in Interstate Commerce (Kefauver Committee) as an associated name. The National Archives file for the building’s National Register amendment (NAID 63816488) states that the committee held its November 15, 1950 hearing in this courtroom. That file is marked “Restricted - Possibly” for use, so it is cited for the one fact and not reproduced.
Part 10 of the printed hearings prints the November 15, 1950 Las Vegas session only as “in Las Vegas, Nev.”; the building comes from the National Register file, not from the hearing record. These documentation photographs were made decades after the hearing and do not show it.
