Cleveland gets its beer from outside sources (9 April 1933)
A New York Times Paris Bureau photograph of men unloading crates of bottled beer from a truck. The catalog title says that because local brewers would have none of their own brew aged before 1 May, Cleveland had to get its beer from outside sources.

- The National Archives catalog marks this item "Use Restriction: Unrestricted." Its parent series, the Photographic File of the Paris Bureau of the New York Times (NAID 541877, Record Group 306, Records of the U.S. Information Agency), carries the note: "Prints stamped New York Times with the Paris address are presumed to be in the public domain, as are the glass negatives of original photographs. Copyright restrictions may apply to all other prints and copy negatives." This archive relies on the item-level "Unrestricted" pending a check of the physical print. The stored copy is an 1,800-pixel downsample of the catalog's scan.
The National Archives catalog title is “Because Local Brewers Answered They Would Have None of Their Own Brew Property Aged before May 1, Cleveland had to Get Their Beer from Outside Sources.” Local identifier 306-NT-454-15; the catalog gives 9 April 1933 as the production date.
The picture is taken from above a yard. Men stand on a truck stacked with wooden crates of bottles and lift them down; a banner on the truck reads “BEER” and “Call WE HAVE IT” with a telephone number, and two men hold up another banner. A man at the right drinks from a bottle. Parked cars and trucks stand behind.
The title’s account of the Cleveland brewers is the catalog’s. The photograph names no one, and the telephone number on the banner is not repeated here.
