A United States government work, public domain under 17 U.S.C. § 105. The National Archives catalog marks use "Unrestricted."

The National Archives describes this case as concerning “the concealment of fugitive Thomas Carroll.” It says Dillinger and his gang traveled with Carroll from Fox River Grove, Illinois to “the Little Bohemia Lodge in Manitowish Waters in Vilas County, Wisconsin,” and quotes the charge that on April 22, 1934 the defendants “did resist and obstruct special agents of the Division of Investigation, United States Department of Justice, who were then and there endeavoring to discover and arrest the said Thomas Carroll.” The note adds: “A resident at the lodge and Special Agent W. Carter Baum were killed, while the defendants escaped.” Ninety page images are online.

The catalog lists the defendants with their aliases, among them John Herbert Dillinger (including “Carl T. Hellman”), Homer Van Meter, Herbert W. Reilly, Lester M. Gillis (“alias Baby Face Nelson”), Marie Marion Conforti, Jean Crompton, Helen Gillis, Patricia Young and John Hamilton. The number 10922 is the catalog’s agency-assigned identifier. The charges are those of the indictment; the catalog does not record the outcome for each defendant, and this page does not.
