Three entries in volume 2 of the Post Office Department’s 1916 album (printed pages about 357 to 359) record that three men were sentenced at Pittsburgh on 8 May 1914 to five years each in the Eastern Penitentiary of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia, with a fine of $100 and costs, for mailing black-hand letters at Wehrum, Pa., on 2 and 9 March 1914 (History file 24979).

This is the only Pittsburgh-area federal Black Hand prosecution found in the research for this section. No newspaper page on the case could be opened: the Library of Congress newspaper service was unavailable during the research. The album does not describe Wehrum.

The album prints a photograph, Bertillon measurements and a physical description of each person. This archive does not reproduce or summarise those, and names no one from the album who is not already the subject of a court file filed here. Printed page numbers were read from the Internet Archive’s OCR text and should be checked against the scan before they are cited.
