The passage is on printed pages 234 and 235 of Part 1, NCJRS PDF pages 248 and 249. Senator Thomas J. McIntyre asked Valachi whether he knew “a man named Patriarca” in Boston. Valachi answered “You will find him on the chart,” gave the first name “Raymond,” and said: “I met him personally. That is all I know. I used to race in Boston.” He explained that he had raced horses at New England tracks, “Suffolk Downs is Boston,” then Narragansett in Rhode Island and New Hampshire.
Asked whether Patriarca “was part of the syndicate in Boston,” Valachi said “Yes.” Counsel Jerome Adlerman then asked: “Was Raymond Patriarca introduced to you as a member of the Cosa Nostra?” Valachi: “Yes, sir.” Asked when, he placed it from the late 1930s on. Adlerman: “There is no doubt in your mind that he is a member of the Cosa Nostra?” Valachi: “Yes, 100 percent.”
Quotations follow the OCR text layer of the NCJRS scan, corrected where the printed words are plain. This is a witness’s testimony to a Senate subcommittee. It is not a finding, and this archive does not fill a family seat from it.
