Hearings of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations of the Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs, held in April 1988 and printed as S. Hrg. 100-906. FBI Director William Sessions and Deputy Assistant Director Anthony E. Daniels testified, and Tommaso Buscetta and others appeared. This archive read the Internet Archive’s OCR of a GPO microfiche copy.

Daniels set the 1963 charts beside 1987 charts of the same families. Asked “would you identify the person at the top of the Gambino chart in 1987?” he answered “John Gotti.” Of the Bonanno family he said: “Following the murder of Carmine Galante in 1979, Rastelli assumed control of the Bonanno LCN family.” Of the Colombo family he referred to the “shooting of then-boss Joseph Colombo in 1971 at the Italian-American day rally in New York.” A General Accounting Office witness, David C. Williams, listed bosses convicted between 1983 and 1986, among them “Tony Salerno, Tony Corallo, Carmine Persico, Philip Rastelli.”

These are FBI and GAO statements to a Senate subcommittee about the Bureau’s own intelligence. They are not court findings, and this archive does not fill a chart seat from them.
