On the record

  • 5 November 1930 — New York police record, read by Sgt. Ralph Salerno on 1 October 1963 (printed p. 178): Stephen Ferrigno and "Manfredi Maineo" were "fatally shot by shotgun fire by persons unknown who were occupying apartment C-1 at 760 Pelham Parkway South." Counsel then asked Valachi whether "the killing of Minio [Maineo] and Ferrigno ... occurred on November 5, 1930, according to the record," and he answered "Yes, sir." Police record and testimony.
  • 1 October 1963 — Staff counsel Duffy (printed p. 168) said Valachi "participated in these killings of Alfred Mineo and Ferrigno"; Valachi testified he was away when the shooting took place. Duffy had earlier referred to "Mr. Alfred Mineo listed here as Manfredi" (printed p. 165). Counsel's statement and testimony.

The heading uses the name counsel used, “Alfred Mineo.” The police record as printed says “Manfredi Maineo,” and counsel also says “Minio.” No record opened gives his birth date.

The role line is Valachi’s phrase about both men and is not a finding.
