On the record
- 1980 — Pungitore, 910 F.2d 1084, footnote 4: "After Bruno was killed, his consigliere Antonio Caponigro, known as Tony Bananas, also was killed."
- 1988 — FBI Deputy Assistant Director Anthony Daniels told the Senate that Bruno named Caponigro consigliere as "a conciliatory move," that Caponigro sought permission to kill Bruno, and that within weeks of Bruno's killing he and others were "summoned to New York," after which "all but Stanfa were murdered." This is the FBI witness's account, not a finding.
The role line quotes the Third Circuit’s footnote. The 1988 testimony is the FBI’s account of its intelligence. No opened record gives a date of birth or death.
