On the record

  • 1988-02-11 — United States v. Coonan, 839 F.2d 886: McElroy is among the defendants on whose behalf counsel appeared in the Government's mandamus proceeding during the trial.
  • 1988 — United States v. Bokun (1995): among the sentences Judge Knapp imposed, "James McElroy, sixty years' imprisonment."
  • 1991-07-16 — United States v. Coonan, 938 F.2d 1553: McElroy is named among the eight co-defendants tried before Judge Knapp, of whom "All but one ... were convicted." The opinion's recital of the evidence at Kelly's later trial also names him in its account of the Leone killing and of threats to a Teamsters local.

No opinion filed here states a position for McElroy in the group, so no role is set. The 1991 opinion’s account of acts it attributes to him is a recital of evidence at another defendant’s trial and is left on the opinion’s page. His personal relationships, which the 1995 opinion mentions in passing, are not repeated.
