On the record
- 14 November 1957 — United States v. Bufalino (1960) lists him among those taken to the Vestal state police barracks: "Carlo Gambino, Michele Miranda, Armand Rava." Court's account of the evidence.
- 1 October 1963 — Duffy, presenting Exhibit 8 (printed p. 162): "Consigliere Michele Miranda." Chart exhibit; not used for the role line.
- 8 October 1963 — Shanley agreed with counsel (printed p. 251) that Miranda was the counsel of the organization and that "on big decisions he is consulted" (OCR "bi~"). Testimony.
- 8 October 1963 — Counsel asked Valachi (printed p. 293), "Does Vito Genovese still control the Genovese family?" Valachi: "Yes." Later in the same exchange counsel asked, "But Miranda is the counsel?" Valachi: "Miranda is counsel." Testimony, confirming counsel's question.
The family line comes from Valachi’s testimony about the Genovese family on printed page 293, and the role line from Shanley’s testimony; neither comes from the chart. No opened record gives his birth or death. The 1963 hearing record mixes kinds of statement. Valachi’s and Shanley’s answers are sworn testimony; counsel’s questions are not, though a witness’s “yes” makes them part of the testimony; LaVern Duffy’s description of Exhibit 8 is the committee staff reading its own chart. A chart entry never fills a role on this archive.
