United States Court of Appeals, First Circuit, October 28, 1991, on the pretrial detention of Raymond J. Patriarca, the son of Raymond L. S. Patriarca. The opinion is not about the father. Its subject is whether the son was properly detained before trial.
The court summarizes the Government’s position that the defendant is “the former Boss of the New England Mafia Family bearing his name (although named after his father)” and that he “assumed leadership of the Patriarca Family following the death of his father in July 1984.” Those are the Government’s contentions in a detention proceeding as the court reports them. They are not findings, and they concern the son.
It is filed because it is the only opened federal opinion that uses the name “Patriarca Family” and states a date for the father’s death. It does not mention Las Vegas.
