United States Court of Appeals, First Circuit, October 14, 1968, an appeal by Raymond Patriarca and others, including Ronald J. Cassesso, from convictions in the District of Rhode Island. Certiorari was denied January 20, 1969. The court affirmed.
The opinion states that “The first count charged all of the appellants with conspiracy, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371, to travel and use the telephone in interstate commerce with intent both to commit murder to further an unlawful gambling enterprise,” and a further object. On the question of pretrial publicity, it quotes the appellants’ own brief, which said that the Senate’s 1963 Valachi hearings “named the defendant Patriarca as ‘Boss’ of the New England ‘Cosa Nostra’ or ‘Mafia.’”
The word “Boss” is in the defendants’ brief, as the court quotes it, about publicity. It is not a finding. The opinion mentions no Las Vegas casino, and this archive has not opened any record that connects Raymond Patriarca to Las Vegas. This page is filed because the FBI’s 1961 airtel on the Criminal Intelligence Program lists him at Boston. See that airtel.
