Public domain; owner's decision of 12 October 2026. The research record's basis: the FBI publishes the photograph on its Bonnie and Clyde history page without a credit line; it is a snapshot whose maker is not stated and is not known to be a federal work, so the research filed it as unresolved. This archive uses it on the owner's decision and stores a copy captured from the FBI page.

The FBI’s Bonnie and Clyde page captions this photograph “Clyde Barrow (left) with William D. Jones, one of the Barrow gang.” The two men stand in suits before a rock face; the man at left holds a hat. The FBI gives no date, place or photographer, and the identification is the FBI’s.

The essay on the same page says William Daniel Jones joined Barrow and Parker in November 1932 and was captured in Houston, Texas, in November 1933 by the sheriff’s office. The picture is a private snapshot; it is published here on the owner’s decision of 12 October 2026, from a copy captured from the FBI’s image page that day. A National Archives photograph of a federal inmate named W. D. Jones exists, but the catalog does not identify that man with the Barrow-gang member, so it is not filed.
