A record of the Federal Bureau of Investigation released under FOIA in the FBI Vault. A United States government work, public domain under 17 U.S.C. § 105. The stored image is a grayscale render of the Vault viewer's page scan.

The Vault’s Floyd file has one part, 17 pages. Page 1, stored here, is the release cover: “Charles ‘Pretty Boy’ Floyd, Summary.” Pages 3 and 4 are a letter to the Director setting out Floyd’s criminal record, beginning with a September 16, 1925 arrest for highway robbery. Page 7 transmits to Hoover an “interesting case write-up concerning the Kansas City Massacre case,” and pages 8 to 17 are that write-up.

The transmittal date on page 7 is not legible in the viewer’s text layer, and the write-up’s text is heavily degraded; neither is quoted here. The date range given above is the research’s reading of the part, from the 1925 arrest to a 1940s transmittal, and is approximate at its later end.
