Part 04 of the FBI Vault’s Carlo Gambino file, scan 49 (report page 44). The file number NY 92-657 is the same as on the Part 03 report page. The report’s table of contents, on scan 17, lists “Attendance at November 14, 1957 Apalachin Meeting” at report page 48. The page is partly obscured by redaction and damage, and the name of the committee is read through damaged text, so it should be checked against the scan.
The report states: “JOHN T. CUSACK, District Supervisor, Bureau of Narcotics, testified before the New York State Joint Legislative Committee on Governmental Operations on January 9, 1958, at Albany, New York, regarding the meeting held at Apalachin, New York, on November 14, 1957. He testified that the US Bureau of Narcotics became particularly interested in this meeting as reports from Apalachin indicated that at least three narcotic violators of major importance were present.”
The date given for this page is the date of the testimony; the report’s own date is not on the page. This is the FBI’s quotation of a witness before a state committee, not the testimony transcript, which has not been located. The next scan continues with Cusack’s statements about Carlo Gambino; those are an agency’s account and are not carried onto any chart here.
