Rights
A record of the Federal Bureau of Investigation released under FOIA. A work of the United States government, public domain under 17 U.S.C. § 105.

The file has 17 viewer pages. Page 2, stored here, is an FBI display page headed “Charles Arthur Floyd, alias ‘Pretty Boy Floyd’” with his photograph and three captions: “Highway robber, bank robber and killer”; “Participated in Kansas City Massacre, June 17, 1933”; and “He was killed on October 22, 1934, by FBI agents and local police officers near East Liverpool, Ohio, while resisting arrest.” The captions are the Bureau’s language, quoted as such.

The text layer shows a header “Investigation Charles Floyd” and a criminal-record summary listing a 16 September 1925 arrest for highway robbery. Page 7, read from the image, is a memorandum for Mr. Tolson dated 29 May 1940, stamped June 14, 1940, signed E. A. Tamm, transmitting “an Interesting Case Write-Up concerning the Kansas City Massacre Case.” (The OCR misreads the year, which is why the date span is 1934 to 1940.) The OCR is too degraded for line-level quotation of the remaining pages, and no file number is recorded because the printed one is not reliable.
