FBI 'Personal History' of John Roselli, 1960s reports (Vault Roselli Part 11)
FBI reports of the late 1960s record Roselli's own account of his background: born in Chicago of Italian parents, raised by an uncle, to Los Angeles at fifteen or sixteen, six grades of school. The FBI elsewhere records a different birthplace.

- A record of the Federal Bureau of Investigation released under FOIA through the FBI Vault. A work of the United States government, public domain under 17 U.S.C. § 105.
Part 11 of the Roselli file (113 viewer pages) holds FBI reports on him, most dated 1967 to 1969 in the OCR. A “Personal History” section (p. 67) says that Roselli “claims birth … at Chicago, Illinois, of Italian parents,” that by his own statement his parents died when he was young and an uncle raised him, that at fifteen or sixteen he went to Los Angeles and worked in the motion-picture industry for about five years, and that his only schooling was six grades of grammar school in Chicago. It records a marriage on April 1, 1940 to an actress and a divorce in March 1943.
A background passage on the 1943 extortion case (p. 77) lists Roselli, Charles Gioe, Paul Ricca and Louis Campagna as released from federal prison on parole and says that Gioe was later murdered in Chicago; the OCR of that page is badly garbled, and its dates are not read.
The birthplace is the FBI’s record of Roselli’s own claim. The birth date differs between pages 67 and 90 in the OCR and is not relied on, and the FBI’s 1968 and 1976 reports give a birth in Italy (see Part 08). Pages 75-76 are FOIA deleted-page sheets. This archive read the page through the Vault viewer’s OCR text layer. The scans are poor; names, dates and figures can be garbled, and many names are redacted under FOIA exemptions (b6, b7C, b7D).
Page 67 prints a residential street address, so no page image is stored; the page shows a document plate.
