Viewer page 26 of Part 01 is the Miami office’s memorandum of 28 September 1956. Under “Criminal Activities” it says: “Subject still active in gambling casino at the Sans Souci Hotel outside of Havana, Cuba.” It reports no new associates and no new business information, and notes a matter being handled by the Intelligence Unit of the Internal Revenue Service, with the details redacted.

Under “Hangouts and Places of Amusement Frequented,” a Miami confidential informant told Special Agent Charles J. Mathews on 3 August 1956 that Trafficante had been seen at a Miami restaurant with unidentified men, and “reported TRAFFICANTE was still active in the gambling casino at the Sans Souci Hotel, Havana, Cuba.”

The FBI uses “Sans Souci Night Club” and “Sans Souci Hotel” for the same place. This is informant information, as the memo says. The Legal Attache’s report of 20 December 1956 on who operated the casino appears in the March 1957 memorandum.
