The title page reads “Investigation of Organized Crime in Interstate Commerce: Index to Hearings of the Special Committee to Investigate Organized Crime in Interstate Commerce, United States Senate, Eighty-first Congress, second session and Eighty-second Congress, first session. Index to Parts 1 to 12”, and states that it was “Prepared by the American Law Section, Legislative Reference Service, Library of Congress”.
It is a printed name and subject index. Its entries give part and page references for witnesses, persons, places and businesses named in the testimony of Parts 1 through 12, so it is the finding tool for any name in those volumes. The verso of the title page prints the committee roster: Estes Kefauver, Herbert R. O’Conor, Charles W. Tobey, Lester C. Hunt and Alexander Wiley. The Internet Archive record describes the volume as iii, 370 pages; the scan has 386 page images. An entry in the index is a pointer to a page, not a finding about the person named. No index to Parts 13 to 19 was found on the Internet Archive.
The archive.org copy is a Boston Public Library scan of the Government Printing Office print, and the Internet Archive marks it not in copyright.
