Printed in Part 18. The heading on page 961 reads Friday, August 17, 1951, executive session, room 252 Senate Office Building, 3:10 p.m., Senator Lester C. Hunt presiding. Sisto, “chairman of the board, Barium Steel Corp.,” was accompanied by counsel and public-relations counsel. Page 961 prints his home address, so the stored image is page 962.
After Sisto describes himself as “an industrialist, principally occupied in the steel business,” counsel Moser says: “Mr. Sisto, as you know, we have been conducting an investigation of Abner Zwillman’s affairs and one of the things that we ran across was the fact that he owns stock in the Barium Steel Corp., so we felt it our duty to inquire into that and see what the nature of his relationship is.” On page 962 Nelson Gammans, a director, asks to be heard first, describes the company’s management, and complains of newspaper publicity; Sisto then begins a prepared statement saying a story based on information he had given the committee had been leaked to the press.
Only the opening pages were read. The statement that Zwillman owned stock is counsel’s, not a finding, and nothing on these pages suggests wrongdoing by Sisto or the company.
