Part 33 of the McClellan Committee’s hearings covers the restaurant industry in the Chicago area, July 1958. Marshall Caifano testified on 11 July 1958 (pp. 12802-12808). He appeared without counsel and, to every question, including his occupation, birthplace and citizenship, answered that he declined on the ground that his answer might incriminate him.
Senator Curtis asked whether other hoodlums had told him not to testify; he gave the same answer. Senator Mundt also questioned him. Exhibit 24 was a photograph of Caifano and Sam Battaglia.
The questions carry the only content about him on these pages; his answers state nothing. Quotations follow the Internet Archive’s OCR of the printed volume. Page numbers are the printed running heads and can be off by one near a page break.
