The National Archives catalog marks this item "Use Restriction: Unrestricted." Its parent series, the Photographic File of the Paris Bureau of the New York Times (NAID 541877, Record Group 306, Records of the U.S. Information Agency), carries the note: "Prints stamped New York Times with the Paris address are presumed to be in the public domain, as are the glass negatives of original photographs. Copyright restrictions may apply to all other prints and copy negatives." This archive relies on the item-level "Unrestricted" pending a check of the physical print. The stored copy is an 1,800-pixel downsample of the catalog's scan.

The National Archives catalog titles this photograph “A Well Stocked Los Angeles Store Awaits Repeal,” local identifier 306-NT-727-4. The original caption, which the catalog quotes, reads: “Los Angeles, Calif. - This liquor agent was prepared for the call, when formal ratification of the repeal amendment to the constitution flashed over the wires. His huge stock however ran out shortly after the doors were opened. 12/7/1933.” The catalog gives no separate production date; the date on this page is the caption’s.

The picture shows a store counter in front of shelves of bottles, with signs reading “BLUE RIBBON ON DRAFT” and an advertisement for Budweiser beer. A man in a raincoat and hat holds a small glass at the left; four men stand behind and beside the counter, one holding a bottle.

The caption names no one and gives no street, and this page adds nothing to it.
