The written statement Angelo Lonardo filed with the Senate subcommittee in April 1988, printed from page 529: his initiation at the Statler Hotel in Cleveland, the people he says were present, the family's ties to New York, Chicago, Las Vegas and Youngstown, and a chronology of Cleveland-area violence.

The longer written version of Lonardo’s testimony, printed with the running head “Statement of Angelo Lonardo” from page 529 of “Organized Crime: 25 Years After Valachi” (1988). The oral testimony refers to it (“See p. 529 for Mr. Lonardo’s prepared statement”).
It begins as the oral testimony does and adds: “My father, Joseph Lonardo, was the former boss of the Cleveland family.” Of his initiation: “I was invited into a room at the Statler Hotel in Cleveland and asked if I knew what I was doing there. You naturally say, ‘No.’ Present were John Scalish, the acting boss; Tony Milano, the underboss; John Demarco, a capo; and Frank Brancato.” It describes the Youngstown arrangement with the Pittsburgh family, the Stardust and the Desert Inn, the Teamsters, and the killing of Charlie Carabbia, and ends with a dated chronology of violent incidents in the Cleveland area.
The statement is Lonardo’s own account. Its descriptions of who held which position are testimony about the 1940s and later; this archive quotes them and does not adopt them.
