The Eastern District of New York’s archived release of August 6, 2008, issued by U.S. Attorney Benton J. Campbell with the FBI’s New York field division. “Earlier today, four members of the Bonanno organized crime family of La Cosa Nostra pleaded guilty before United States District Judge Nicholas G. Garaufis to murder conspiracy and other charges.”
Two of the four, whom the release describes as the family’s acting boss and a soldier, “acknowledged their roles in the 2004 murder of Randolph Pizzolo.” The release says the soldier “shot and killed Randolph Pizzolo in Brooklyn on November 30, 2004,” and that the murder “was ordered by” the acting boss “and Vincent Basciano.” The other two, “soldiers Anthony Indelicato, also known as ‘Bruno,’” and a fourth man, “admitted to their involvement in the 2001 murder of Frank Santoro.” “Frank Santoro was shot and killed on February 15, 2001, while he was walking his dog in the Bronx. Santoro’s murder was ordered by Basciano, then a Bonanno soldier.” It says the two men “served as drivers.”
Under the plea agreements the four were “expected to be sentenced” to 30, 25, 20 and 15 years; Indelicato’s expected term was 20 years. These are the expected terms under the agreements, not sentences imposed. The release adds that since March 2004 “more than 100 Bonanno family members and associates have been prosecuted in the Eastern District of New York, including boss Joseph Massino, and each of his successors.” The three men who appear in no court record filed here are not named on this page.
The release does not refer to the 1979 Galante killing or the 1980s cases. The name and the alias “Bruno” match the Anthony “Bruno” Indelicato of the 1982 indictment and of the Commission case, and this archive files both on one person page on that basis. The release gives the defendants’ ages, which are left out here.
