On the record
- 1925-01-28 — Associated Press, Evening Star: "Vincent Drucci and Earl Weiss, also friends of O'Banion, were in technical custody," though not identified by the Torrios. The OCR prints the surname "Druccl"; the scan reads Drucci.
- 1927-04-04 — Associated Press, Evening Star, 5 April 1927: "Drucci was killed by a detective after he had been taken into custody. He quarreled with Detective Daniel Healy, who shot and killed him en route to the Criminal Courts Building. Drucci was armed when apprehended." The dispatch dates the killing "late yesterday" and calls Drucci a "beer gang leader of the North Side."
Both events come from wire-service reports. The 1927 label “beer gang leader of the North Side” is the Associated Press’s and is not used as a role. No inquest, police or court record of the shooting has been opened for this archive.
