Exhibit No. 41-A is a fold-out that faces page 1390 of Part 5; the plate slug reads “(Face p. 1390),” where the OCR of the testimony prints “1890.” On December 18, 1950, chief counsel Rudolph Halley offered four charts on the racing wire service; the first, a map of Continental Press telegraph lines, was received as Exhibit 41 and is on file with the committee, not printed (printed page 854). Halley then offered “as exhibit No. 41-A, a chart showing the wire service operated by Continental Press and its distributors as of May 1950.”

The chart has “Continental Press” in a box at the top. Three rows of boxes below name distributors with their cities, among them Daily Sports Digest, Boston; Daily Sports News, New Orleans; Armstrong Daily, New York; Associated Press; Nevada Publishing, Las Vegas; Pioneer News, St. Louis; Howard Sports, Baltimore; Transradio Press, New York; United Press, New York; Illinois Sports News, Chicago, with Midwest, General News and R & H Publishing below it; and Empire Service, Cleveland. Most distributor boxes have a box beneath giving a count of subscribers, cities and states.

This is a hearing exhibit. The names, ranks and relationships printed on it are the labels of a chart prepared for the committee; the chart names companies, not persons, and that a news service or wire company appears on it is the chart’s claim, not a finding about that company. They are not findings of the committee or of a court, and this archive does not copy any of them onto a family page or a person page.
