Exhibit No. 42 is printed at page 1390 of Part 5, below the end of Exhibit 40. On December 18, 1950, chief counsel Rudolph Halley offered four charts on the racing wire service; the first, a map of Continental Press telegraph lines, was received as Exhibit 41 and is on file with the committee, not printed (printed page 854). Halley offered as the third chart “a chart showing the operations of Trans-American Wire Service as of March 1947.” The image stored here is the exhibit, cut from the printed page.
The chart is marked “March 1947.” A circle for Trans-American Wire Service joins a circle for Chicago, from which lines run to Kansas City (with Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas and California beyond it), East St. Louis, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Miami, Columbus, and Camden, N.J. The contents call it a “Chart showing operations of Trans-American Publishing & News Service, as of March 1947.”
This is a hearing exhibit. It names places and a company, not persons. That a company appears on it is the chart’s claim, not a finding of the committee or of a court.
