Printed pages 401 to 415 of Part 6. Anthony Milano appeared with Joseph W. Kennedy, attorney, of Cleveland. He said he was born in Italy and that Frank Milano was his brother: “He is in Mexico.”
Asked about arrests he said, “A long time ago,” “For counterfeit,” in “1911 and 1912,” and that he served “Fifty-four months, fifty-five months” at Leavenworth. Asked whether his brother had been in the same case, he said, “We was pinched together but he was acquitted.” A Cleveland police record printed in the appendix as exhibit 35 lists the counterfeiting case with a disposition of “6 yrs., Leavenworth, Kans.”
He gave his business as “the loan company and Mayfield Importing Co.,” which his counsel named as the Brotherhood Loan and Mayfield Importing Co. Asked whether the building he owned, with the Loretto Publishing Co. as a tenant, was at 12002 Mayfield Road, he said it was. Asked, “Did you ever hear of the Mafia?” he answered: “Mafia? Well, I don’t know what Mafia mean,” and he was then asked about the Black Hand and the Unione Siciliana. His answers are testimony.
