A record of the U.S. Secret Service (Record Group 87), reproduced on National Archives microfilm publication T915, Daily Reports of the U.S. Secret Service Agents, 1875-1936. A United States government work, public domain in the United States under 17 U.S.C. § 105. The National Archives catalog lists access and use as unrestricted; the images are marked "Best Available Image / Original Textual Records No Longer Exist."

These are the first three pages, numbered 831 to 833, of the second part of the volume the National Archives catalogs as “William Flynn: Volumes 27-29 - August 1, 1909-May 31, 1910 (2 of 2)” (1,614 pages on microfilm T915, roll 116). They cover about 3 to 6 January 1910, three weeks before the counterfeiting trial of Morello, Lupo and six others opened.

A special operative’s report for 4 January 1910 describes agents on watch for “Callicchio” and then going to a street the report types as “Bowning Street,” where they arrested “Comito” and searched his rooms. The charges pages list meals paid for Callicchio, Comito, Cina and Giglio. The pages do not say why the agents were paying for those meals, and this archive does not infer a reason.

Page 833, shown here, ends with a list of operatives’ charges for 3 and 4 January and the signature “William J. Flynn,” “Operative in charge.” Antonio Comito became the government’s principal witness at the trial (New-York Tribune, 28 January 1910; 189 F. 305). Spellings are the report’s.
