On the record
- July 1959 — A Chicago FBI memorandum (Vault, Anthony Accardo Part 02, p. 6) relays an attorney's remark that the "young turks" were taking over the Chicago syndicate and names "JACK CERONE" among them. Third-hand; not a Bureau finding.
- 15 September 1971 — United States v. Cerone, 452 F.2d 274 (7th Cir. 1971): the jury "found defendants John P. (Jack) Cerone, Sr., Donald J. Angelini, Dominic Cortina, James Cerone and Joseph Ferriola guilty" of a Travel Act gambling conspiracy. "The judgments of the district court are affirmed."
- 24 February 1986 — United States v. Spilotro, 786 F.2d 808 (8th Cir. 1986): "The government alleged that appellant Spilotro and others acted as the Las Vegas representatives for those co-conspirators, including appellants Aiuppa and Cerone, who lived in or near Chicago, Illinois." It records that Aiuppa and Cerone were found guilty by a jury on January 21, 1986.
- 8 October 1987 — United States v. Cerone, 830 F.2d 938 (8th Cir. 1987), summarizing the Government's charge: "Aiuppa was the boss of the Chicago group, with Cerone as its underboss."
- 8 October 1987 — The same opinion: "Aiuppa and Cerone were sentenced to consecutive prison terms totalling twenty and one-half years," each defendant was fined $80,000, and "we affirm the convictions."
The heading follows the 1987 caption. His middle name is printed as Peter (1987), Philip (1971), and Phillip (1986); this page records each as printed.
The family and role lines repeat the Eighth Circuit’s description of what the Government charged. The court states it as the charge, not as its own finding. No opened record gives his birth or death date.
