Records of the Federal Bureau of Investigation released under the Freedom of Information Act. A federal work, public domain in the United States under 17 U.S.C. § 105. Redactions are as released by the FBI. Newspaper clippings filed inside FBI files are third-party material and are not covered by this basis.

The Vault viewer shows 252 pages; page 1 is a deleted-page information sheet. The early pages include a memorandum of June 1981 (the date is read from a poor OCR) recommending that a new RICO case be opened against Scarfo and associates; Newark teletypes about his federal firearms conviction and bail; FD-302 physical-surveillance reports of Atlantic City locations from May 1981; a May 1982 evidence inventory captioned “NICODEMO SCARFO ET AL RICO”; and electronic-surveillance intercept logs for May and June 1985.

The file also holds newspaper clippings, which appear from filing stamps to date from 1981, on a Casino Control Commission inquiry, on Local 54, and on a Division of Gaming Enforcement contempt effort against Scarfo and Philip Leonetti. Those clippings are third-party material and are not claimed as federal works here.

The page images could not be downloaded during research, so every detail is read from the viewer’s OCR text layer, which is poor. The file records addresses of private residences; none is used. The firearms conviction is the subject of 685 F.2d 842.
